Building modern steel bed frames is how we got our start back 10 years ago. Perhaps a worthwhile topic for a future blog post but today we will dive into the ins and out of what makes a Weld House contemporary bed frame a solid investment.
All bed frames are custom made to order. We have manufactured 60+ bed frames for single commercial application as well as countless designs and styles for residential clients all over the United States. Our design criteria include:
- Easy to assemble with one tool
- Indestructible with absolutely no creaking or movement
- Modern, contemporary, or industrial design details. Our bed frames will last forever and never need replacing.
We encourage parents to buy Twin XL size beds for their young children because when they grow up, they can take this bed frame with them into their first apartment, Twin XL’s are the width of a twin and the length of a Queen.
There are many variables when considering a custom bed frame from Weld House. Mattress thickness, box spring or platform style, mattress height above ground, built-in side table or not, etc. The options and size combinations are almost unlimited. Every client and home is unique so we do not keep a bed frame “in-stock”. We will ask you a list of questions and attempt to give you options you never knew were possible so that you can make the best, most educated decision. We want you to be thrilled with your purchase for years and years to come.
The style bed highlighted in this blog post is known as the Lowboy. It is low to the ground and has a wide and aggressive stance, even in the narrower queen size. This mattress sits on a wood platform on the lower rail of the side rails. There are steel bars under the wood platform. This wood and steel platform is purposefully packaged behind the bed frame so none of the working parts of the bed are visible. The headboard has a slight swept angle to it that makes it comfortable to sit up in bed and read or work on a laptop. Originally designed for the uneven concrete floors of a converted warehouse, the 9pc adjustable feel thread into the headboard and footboard. These “feet” articulate 360* and will thread in and out so that your bed frame will sit level and flat, even on an uneven surface like a warehouse’s concrete foundation. Heavy-duty felt on the underside of these feet mean no metal touches your carpet or tile floor. You can pretty easily slide Weld House bed frames side to side for easy cleaning on hard surface floors. For carpet clients, well, I guess you will vacuum under the bed when you move out. This Lowboy’s raw steel tube frame was tarnished with a combination of a black and brown stain then sealed with a matte clear powder coated finish. Light dusting with a damp microfiber cloth is all you need to keep this modern metal bed frame looking great for decades.
We encourage our clients to allow us to brainstorm cool features with them to increase the livability of your modern steel bed frame. Wireless charging or other device integration, under glow, LED lighting, fingerprint access lockable storage for firearms or valuables, hidden compartments for adult toys, anchor points for BDSM activities and the list goes on. Lowboy bed frames will start around $2500 and can go up to $5-6k depending on options. Allow 6-12 weeks for the design and build process.
