Designing and building custom architectural elements for clients is usually a learning experience, no matter how much experience you have. Oftentimes, we listen to a clients needs, filter that through our experience/equipment at our disposal and quickly quote them a price & timeline knowing full well that there are 1 or 2 grey-areas we will have to “figure out”. Fabricating the steps from start to finish on a project goes so much faster when we are envisioning the steps in our mind compared to actually running machines and using our hands to do the actual work.
Sonic Union has been a client of Weld House for a very long time, dating back to when there wasn’t the name “Weld House” and it was just a weekend hobby. We have been commissioned to build things like furniture and signage over the years. As Sonic Union expanded into a new space in Bryant Park, they had a need for a coat rack. We were fortunate that they wanted something really unique and custom to fit in their amazing new space. Sandwiched between two concrete beams, this coat rack uses an expansion mechanism to swedge itself into place. Using these amazing coat hooks from James Howard, square tubing, laser cut aluminum and custom paint/patina were used to fabricate this floating coat rack.
Weld House works with amazing clients, interior designers and architects from all over the United States to custom fabricate modern, contemporary or industrial furniture, signage or artwork for your commercial space. We look forward to hearing from you on your next project!
